Benjamin Spock

Benjamin Spock (1903-1998) was a pediatrician who wrote the 1946 book Baby and Child Care. It emphasized self-reliance in parents and encouraged mothers to act on their natural instincts to touch and cuddle infants. The opening sentence is "Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do". He is often referred to simply as Dr. Spock.
