Bobby Fischer's Chess Openings have been compiled and analyzed by the Chess Only website are as follows. But Fischer notably used multiple surprise openings that he had rarely played before, during the Match of the Century,[1] including twice beginning with the unusual English Opening (1.c4).

  • Ruy Lopez (Bobby Fischer's favorite, moving king's pawn two spaces forward, or P-K4)
  • Kings Gambit (after 1.e4)
  • Evans Gambit (a favorite of Garry Kasparov also)
  • Petrov’s Defense
  • Alekhine’s Defense
  • Scandinavian Defense
  • French Defense
  • Caro–Kann Defence
  • Sicilian Defense (Fischer really liked its Bc4, and often used these variations: Accelerated Dragon, Dragon, Najdorf with 6 lines)
