Evil is defined as taking advantage of another person for one's own benefit. It is the opposite of goodness.
According to Christian beliefs, Evil entered the world when Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil[1].
The Most recent example of evil is the work of The Republican party in the US, specifically the policies of the Bush Administration and their war in Iraq, which took advantage of an entire country's people and the members of the US military for the financial benefit of Bush's political allies. While stability in the region went down, the profits of big oil went up.
