Kremlinology is the term used by Western new organizations for reporting on official Soviet policy prior to glasnost. News analysts and national security experts, commonly referred to as Kremlinologists, attempted to "read the tea leaves" on official Soviet pronouncements and appointments due to the deceptive nature of official Soviet secrecy and censorship. The term has become common for reporting on any secretive organization, such as the Communist Party of China or the Biden regime.
