The Gallikos (Γαλλικός), or Galliko river anciently known as the Echidorus (Ἐχείδωρος[1]; Ἐχέδωρος[2]), Cheidorus[3] that exists within the western bounds of the modern city of Thessalonica before one reaches the larger and parallel Vardar river.
The name Gall-ikos also indicates the presence of Celts as Gall is the equivalent Greek word for the Latin Gaul and English Celt'; who Herodotus claimed inhabited from this point back to the Bosporus and Hellespont, being the then Thracians.[4]
