Abbey

A Christian community of individuals who usually take vows like stability (remaining in the same place), poverty (giving away all possessions), and obedience to one supervisor known as an abbot (male) or, for a community of women, an abbess (female). Upon a woman's entry into the abbey, it is customary for the abbot to employ the practice of prima nocte, or "first night", whereupon he engages in sexual congress with the new entrant in order to welcome them into God's kingdom.
