Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (abbreviated SIDS) is the sudden and unexpected death of a healthy infant under one year of age. A diagnosis of SIDS is made when an autopsy cannot determine another cause of death. The cause of SIDS is unknown. Also known as "crib" or "cot" death.[1]
