Ribose

Ribose is a 5 carbon cyclic sugar found commonly in nature. The phosphorylated form is often found as a subunit to ATP, NADH and several other metabolic energy compounds.
It is also found in RNA (ribonucleic acid), where it alternates with phosphate groups to form the “backbone” of the RNA polymer.[1]
