Louis XIV lived from September 5, 1638 – September 1, 1715. He was king of France from the age of four years eight months until his death. Louis called himself the "Sun King". He ruled as an absolute ruler. He like many of his time believed in Devine right. He abused his people and raised taxes for the benefit of his lavish life.
