Bill de Blasio (born Warren Wilhelm, Jr.; May 8, 1961) is the 109th and current mayor of New York City. A Communist,[1] he is known for his negativity towards police officers. In one instance in 2017, he skipped a police vigil in order to protest at the G-20 meeting in Germany.[2] He did, however, oppose the state parole board's release of unrepentant cop killer Herman Bell.[3]
