Michael Cloud is a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives for Texas's 27th congressional district. The winner of a special election on June 30, 2018, Cloud fills the remaining six months in the seat vacated by fellow Republican Blake Farenthold, who resigned earlier amid controversy over his legal settlement of a sexual harassment lawsuit with public funds.[1][2]

Cloud is a former chair of the Victoria County Republican Party. In the special election, he polled about 54 percent of the ballots cast in a field of nine candidates. The second place candidate, Democrat Eric Holguin, received just under one-third of the vote. The two meet again in the November 6 general election as their respective party nominees.[3]

Cloud carries the endorsement of the conservative Club for Growth Political Action Committee as well as the House Freedom Caucus.[4]
