Dr. William Henry "Bill" Cosby, Jr., born July 12, 1937 (age 89), is an American actor and comedian from Philadelphia. He is famous for his role on The Cosby Show, the highest rated show in television at that time, his Jello advertisements, his children's comedy cartoon Fat Albert and his comedy albums.

In 1976, he earned a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Bill Cosby has been married to Camille Cosby since 1964. They had four daughters and son. Their son was murdered in 1997 and his killer is in prison. One of their daughters died in 2018.

Cosby angered many people when he voiced criticism of the African-American community's acceptance of single-parent households, high crime rates and other problems. He has also said black people in America should not blame white people for the problems black people face today and should take personal responsibility to better themselves.[1] For this reason, Cosby is highly regarded amongst conservatives who feel the same way.[1]

Cosby was accused of sexual assault and harassment by several women. Cosby has pleaded not guilty to three charges, and his trial in court began June 5, 2017. [2] The first trial ended in a hung jury, and he will be retried in 2018.[3]
