Alexa tracks usage and views by users who have Alexa toolbars of websites on the internet. It is not a scientific method for measuring internet traffic, because users relying on Alexa toolbars may not be any indication of the overall traffic to any specific website. Other limitations on Alexa methods for measuring traffic can be understood from its own explanation here.
Wiki software provides a far more accurate measure of traffic to a Wiki site, as it records page views by all users here.
