Sola fide(Latin: by faith alone) is a Protestant Christian theological doctrine that states that states Christians are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone, and that they are noy saved by works.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (KJV)

This docrine was established by Protestant Reformer Martin Luther, who considered it "The article with and by which the church stands."
