Oviedo is the capital of Asturias, in northwestern Spain. The city has 220,567 inhabitants (2016).

Oviedo was founded by Fruela I, king of Asturias, on November 25, 761. There was first build a monastery in the year 757 by the same king.[1]

Sports

The city is the home of the former Primera Division soccer team Real Oviedo, currently playing in the Segunda División A.
