A Mulligan, in the parlance of the game of golf, is a repetition of a stroke. "To take a Mulligan" means to take the stroke over and agree to abide by the results of the second stroke, not the first. The rules of golf allow mulligans only on stroke play, never on tournament play. A player may take only one Mulligan per hole.

In broader usage, the term Mulligan has come to mean any opportunity to begin a process at status quo ante a given event.
