Jan Peder Syse (November 30, 1930 – September 17, 1997) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. His first experience as minister was in a short period as Minister of Justice from 1970 to 1971, and later he became Minister of Industry in Kåre Willoch's cabinet, 1983–1985. He was party leader from 1989 to 1991, and Prime Minister of Norway from 1989 to 1990, both preceded and succeeded by Gro Harlem Brundtland from the Labour Party.

He died of cerebral hemorrhage in 1997, leaving wife and two adult sons.
