UNIX System V is a version of the UNIX operating system developed by AT&T and released in 1983. It was developed along with Sun Microsystems. Updates to UNIX System V have been provided in the form of new releases, the latest of which is Release 4, released in 1987. UNIX System V Release 4 is commanly referred to as SVR4. Development on System V ceased when AT&T sold it to Novell in 1995.
