Wiley Post (1898–1935) was the first man to fly solo around the world accomplishing the feat on July 22, 1933 with the help of a newly installed 'auto pilot'. He died two years later when a plane he was flying crashed. Humorist Will Rogers was on the plane with him, and also died.
