Peer pressure is pressure applied by one's peers, or colleagues, to do something one might not otherwise do, as in committing a crime or simply behaving differently. Peer pressure is particularly visible among teenagers. Teens' "friends" (especially in public schools) may pressure them into harmful activities like drinking, smoking, doing drugs, or having sex.
