Macmillan's Encyclopedia of Philosophy which was published in 1967. The philosopher Paul Edwards served as the editor-in-chief.

The encyclopedia consisted of eight volumes and approximately 1,500 entries by over 500 contributors. It is one of the major works of 20th century philosophy. Using his editorial discretion, Edwards had a great many entries on atheism, materialism and related subjects in the encyclopedia.
