Defilade

Defilade, when used as a noun, describes a means of protection or shielding from hostile ground observation and flat projecting fire provided by an artificial or natural obstacle, such as a hill. Defilade, when used as a verb (used with object), is to shield from enemy fire by using natural or artificial obstacles.
