Puroresu (short for purofesshonaru resuringu, professional wrestling) is a Japanese term referring to professional wrestling in Japan.
Puroresu differs from Western professional wrestling greatly, since it is more realistic, features more martial arts techniques, and doesn't, if ever, features fabricated storylines. Puroresu, unlike Western pro wrestling, is treated as a martial art, very much in a similar manner as mixed martial arts like Ultimate Fighting Championship and K-1.
