Caudillo

A caudillo is a type of South American political leader or dictator who arose with the nineteenth century wars for independence.
The title "Caudillo" was taken by General Francisco Franco Bahamonde of Spain for the duration of his dictatorship (1936 (parts of Spain) or 1939 (all of Spain) to 1975).
