Spreading

Spreading is a rhetorical trick used by debators, such as attorneys. The trick consists of overloading the opponent with a mass of information of dubious (or nonexistent) factuality, all of which the opponent must then refute. The goal is to bog the opponent down, especially in a scenario with limited time, to obtain victory by sheer confusion.
In essence, the tactic is similar to a filibuster, another rhetorical trick playing upon limited time scenarios.
