The most-read Bible verses begin with John 3:16 and then include passages from both the New Testament and the Old Testament. The top ten verses according to a study done by bibleateway.com are (quoting the ESV here):[1]

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Jer 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[2] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Rom 8:28: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
