Philippe Jacques De Loutherbourg (Philip James de Loutherbourg) (1740-1812) was a French-born English Romantic painter, illustrator, printmaker, and scenographer. He became known for his set designs for London theaters. De Loutherbourg's works hang in museums like: Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate Britain, Fitzwilliam Museum, and Yale Center for British Art. Some consider his finest work the "Defeat of the Spanish Armada, 8 August 1588" of 1796 at The National Maritime Museum, London.
