Scriptural cross-reference

A Scriptural cross-reference is a notation, often inline or in the page margin of a Bible, that identifies commonalities between different parts of the Bible such as similar themes, words, events, or people. For example, many cross-references appear in some Bibles linking the accounts of Matthew, Mark and Luke of certain events. Some readers prefer Bibles that do not have such cross-references since they are not present in the original texts and may distract from the text or subtly introduce the interpretations or biases of the editor.
