Lag is a slang term for the slowdown that happens when the requirements of a program are greater than the physical capabilities of the computer running it. Lag can be confined to a program running on a single user's computer or, in the case of a program accessed en masse from a host server, can be experienced by several users at the same time.[Who says?]
