This is an effort on my part to provide a link from my Jack dempsey article. In following the link to the Alvin York page, I see that the author there suggests that York did not change his mind about his CO status but was merely compelled by legal process to fight. I am unsure of my facts, and may have been influenced by Hollywood in this regard. When I get a moment I'll try to find the truth, but if meantime anyone knows, please help.
