Immutability of God

St. Thomas Aquinas taught on divine immutability.[1]

The immutability of God refers to the view that God is unchangeable in His nature.[2]

Several Bible verses describe God's unchanging nature, also known as divine immutability. For example, Malachi 3:6 ("For I am the LORD, I do not change") and James 1:17 ("who does not change like shifting shadows"). Other verses, such as Numbers 23:19 and Hebrews 13:8, further indicate that God remains the same and that His promises are eternal.

The view of divine immutability is generally held by those who agree with Thomas Aquinas' views on divine immutability and among certain theologians who hold to Reformed theology.[3]
