Peasant's Crusade

The real first crusade which consisted mainly of common people. 1096 AD. It was called for by Pope Urban II, at the behest of the Byzantine Emperor whose lands were being threatened by Muslims. It is contrasted by the Third Crusade, also called the "King's Crusade."
