Anyone who thinks that the "less common meaning" of Winchester is a small city in England has a problem with his understanding of the world. It reminds me of the story about the American tourist in Paris who said: "Oh look, John. They've named their cathedral after our football team." AlanE 00:48, 15 January 2015 (EST)
- LOL. As Yankees, we Americans really never heard of Winchester as anything else but the famous Winchester Rifle, the rifle that "Won the West". Apart from that obscure British 1966 one hit wonder called "The New Vaudeville Band" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKc1OCJ7iXk

- Yes, it was a crap song when it came out and I have no doubt it hasn't improved with age so I won't access it now. Thanks all the same.
- Winchester rifle.... yeah; it "won the west". Everyone in the world heard, read, saw, that a thousand times in a thousand crap (or occasionally better) movies during the 50s and into the early 60s. I know I did. But your statement that "we Americans never heard of Winchester as anything else..." proves my point. Americans are ignorant. Wilfully ignorant of anything outside your borders.
