I have just gone through 9 books in my library that cover that period of British history plus three "encyclopedic" tomes. Each one of them refers to the Pitts separately as either "the Elder" or "the Younger." I have never seen a reference to either of the Pitts without the appropriate adjective. Not ever.

Joey, do you know anything at all about British history, geography or (as Andy Griffiths would say) "whatall"? I missed your original edit on this and came across it on a Random Page sweep. I cringed. I am awaiting your take on Pliny. AlanE 01:31, 10 September 2014 (EDT)
