Nancy-Ann DeParle is the "Health Care Czar" in the Obama Administration, as Counselor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Health Reform.[1] Appointed in March 2009, she reports to President Obama. She coordinates the development of the Administration's healthcare policy agenda, and has been a tireless advocate of socialized medicine for many years. DeParle earned a law degree from Harvard, and her husband, Jason DeParle, is a reporter for the New York Times.

Previous experience

Nancy-Ann DeParle served as the OMB’s representative on health-care reform during Bill Clinton’s first term. As head of the HHS Health Care Financing Administration under Clinton, she ran the largest health insurance provider in America, overseeing $600 billion in payments annually to 74 million recipients of Medicare and Medicaid. DeParle was Director of the Healthcare Financing Administration from 1997 to 2000.[1]

Since 2001, Nancy-Ann DeParle has been Managing Director, of CCMP Capital; focusing on healthcare policy, she is also the Adjunct professor at the Wharton School of Business, as well as the Commissioner on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission.

DeParle left government to take a year-long fellowship at Harvard’s Institute of Politics, where she was part of Harvard’s Health Care Policy Forum and led a weekly study group on reforming Medicare from 2000 to 2001.

During the Bush administration, DeParle sat on the boards of many health companies, ranging from medical treatment producers to hospital systems.
