Ballistic missile
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by PhilipV (talk | contribs) at 13:08, November 5, 2008. It may differ significantly from current revision.
A ballistic missile is a missile which briefly goes into an exoatmospheric orbit. Most ballistic missiles are ground-to-ground based, although they can also be launched from sea-based platforms. Some have enough range to reach another continent; see Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
Some ICBMs carry nuclear warheads.
