Chick-fil-A is a privately held and family owned fast food franchise with over 1500 locations nationwide. They are a Christian business and every last location closes on the Lord's day, Sunday. Established in 1946 by Truett Cathy, he opened his first restaurant, The Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville, Georgia. In 2010, annual sales were over $3.5 billion.
Restaurants can be stand alone locations, mall-based, drive-thru only as well as college campuses, hospitals, and airport "Lunch Counters". They operate themed restaurants known by the names Dwarf House and Truett's Grill. They included the full Chick-fil-A menu.
Their brand campaign since 1995 has been a cow (symbolizing hamburgers) with a sign that reads "Eat Mor Chikin".
Charity
Truett and Jeannette Cathy created the WinShape Foundation over 20 years ago which currently operates 11 foster care homes in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. In addition, college scholarships totaling more than $26 million, camping, marriage counseling and more.
