Russia is the largest of the earth's countries and has the sixth largest population. It is known for its cold winters and harsh weather. Russia is a federation, consisting of a number of constituent entities. Nonetheless, the centralized government is relatively strong.
Russia has only been conquered once in the winter, by the famous Mongol Ghengis Khan. Hitler, Napoleon and many other famous military geniuses have tried to conquer it during the winter but all failed. Germany in World War I did declare peace with Russia in a treaty favorable to the Germans (often considered to be humiliating to Russia) at the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, but did not actually conquer the country.
