Larry Pressler (b. 1942) was a Republican Representative and a Senator from the state of North Dakota. Pressler was elected to the House of Representatives in 1975, and to the Senate in 1979. He was defeated for re-election by Democrat Tim Johnson in 1996.
Pressler is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served two tours of duty as an Army Lieutenant (1967-68), and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was the first returning VietNam veteran to be elected to Congress.
