Destruction of life as the result of an unreasoning drive to kill. sometimes put forth as an explanation of the massive destruction of human life in modern times, whether by war, legalized abortion, or euthanasia.[1]
In more widespread usage, it refers to chemical agents which destroys living organisms, such as pesticides. [2]
