Saint John the Divine is the author of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, which he wrote after seeing a miraculous vision while on the island of Patmos. There is some debate over whether he is the same person as John the Apostle, to whom are attributed the Gospel of John and the three Epistles of John. Ancient writers as early as Justin Martyr said they were one and the same.
