Tarzan is a character is popular novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The character is the son of an English nobleman who grows up in Africa among a pack of apes. Tarzan learns the ways of the jungle and protects its inhabitants from outsiders. The first Tarzan novel was published in 1914.
