Archery is a sport which involves developing accuracy in shooting a bow. Archery may also refer to bowhunting, the sport of hunting game using a bow.

Humans have practiced archery since very early times. Genesis 27:3 contains the Bible's first mention of a bow, when Isaac asks Esau to go hunt some game for him.[1] Early bows were simple. Arrows were made of wood with stone arrowheads.

Today, archery is a highly competitive sport, included in the Olympic Games.[2] Most modern archers use compound bows, which deliver maximum accuracy and speed.[3] Arrows have also changed, as most modern arrows have aluminum or carbon shafts.
