Woolly Mammoths were a family of extinct furred elephants that roamed the Northern Hemisphere up until the last Ice Age. The mammoth is believed to have used its enormous tusks to root for vegetation beneath the snow.
The frozen corpses of several mammoths have been found in the Siberian permafrost; in medieval times there was a substantial trade in mammoth ivory from the region.
Most creation scientists believe that mammoths are from the same baramin as elephants, mastodons, and hippopotamuses.
