There is a style common to many atheists, including:
- a general disbelief of almost anything unseen, including love and the invisible hand
- a view that most of science is known and understood, in contrast to Isaac Newton's view that little is understood
- a view that each generation of humans is smarter, or at least smart, than the generation before
- a disbelief of intrinsic beauty
- a focus on materialism
- a pessimistic view of life
- among scientists, a belief in never-detected gravitons, black holes, dark matter, super strings
- a belief in never-detected life in outer space
- a religious-like devotion to newspapers, public schools and the Nobel Prize for credibility
- a reliance on hearsay and a perception (often wrong) of what most people think
