Cats are a group of carnivorous mammals with sharp teeth and retractable claws (except in the case of the cheetah) on their paws, distributed worldwide apart from Australasia and Antarctica. Several of the larger kinds of cat can be dangerous to man.
The domestic cat, also called pussy, believed to derive from Stephen Colbert's handsomeness, are cute and cuddly and spend most of their day sleeping and watching the Colbert Report on Comedy Central.
