The Republican National Committee (RNC) provides national leadership for the Republican Party of the United States. It is responsible for developing and promoting the Republican Party Platform, as well as coordinating fundraising and election strategy. It is also responsible for organizing and running the Republican National Convention. Its current chairman is Michael Whatley, who began in this position in 2024 along with co-chair Lara Trump.

According to conservatives and some on the anti-establishment left, the RNC attempted to block Donald Trump out of the 2015 Republican primaries.[1][2][3]

2016 National Convention

The RNC selected Cleveland, Ohio, to host the 2016 Republican National Convention.

2012 National Convention

The RNC's Site Selection Committee chose Tampa, Florida to host the 2012 Republican National Convention.[4]
