Mehmet Cengiz Oz (born on June 11, 1960) is the elected Republican for the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania in the midterm election of 2022.[1] Dr. Oz received the coveted endorsement of President Donald Trump on April 8, 2022. However, Oz has dropped Trump branding from his website.[2]
His background includes being an American television celebrity, cardiothoracic surgeon, university professor, author and politician from Republican party. He was born in Ohio to a Turkish migrant family, and considers himself a Muslim.[3] Oz served in the Turkish Army and has close ties to Turkish dictator Erdogan.[4]
While running in the crowded GOP primary in the 2022 Senate elections, he has apparently retired from faculty role.[5] Despite being a Muslim, he claims to support Israel.[6]
He is married to Lisa Lemole since 1985 and have four children.[7]
