The Contras were a terrorist organization that was comprised of former members of the Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza's National Guard. The Contra's killed between 30,000, and 50,000 people, and were commited to the destruction of the government of Nicaragua. The Contras were given financial and operational support from the Reagan administration. In fact, Reagan once famously quipped: " I am a contra too."
