Ayrshire is a county centred around the former county town of Ayr.
The Ayrshire greeting
No one knows the origins of this ritual greeting formula which, alongside the Auld Lang Syne and the Selkirk Grace has become familiar throughout the English-speaking world. It is believed it may have something to do with swine rustling, which was common in Scotland in the middle ages.
Person A - Is that your Ayrshire bacon?
Person B - No, Ah'm just warmin my hauns.
